Irish soda bread for afternoon of March 11, 2026

Irish soda bread is one of those breads that is fun to have once a year. It only uses baking soda and baking powder for leavening. It's great by itself or with butter or jam. Reheat it for 20 seconds or so in the microwave. It'll keep for a couple of days in a bread box. 

This version has about 33% home-milled whole wheat flour to give it some texture and flavor. 

Ingredients:  Buttermilk, all-purpose flour, currants, whole wheat flour, sugar, butter, egg, molasses, baking soda, baking powder, salt.

It's not vegan.
